Program & Projects

At Sounds Like Touch, we support projects that bring sound, touch, technology and bodily expression together on stage. This page showcases what we are currently involved in or have previously worked on.

Sounds Like Touch’s main recurring project is Tactology Lab. This is a structured programme spanning multiple days that brings artists and creators together to explore new ways of tactile interaction with electronics.

We host meetups in the form of artist talks, workshops, brainstorm sessions and tryouts in our Makerspace. These meetups are a place for artists, designers and cultural workers to exchange ideas, knowledge and inspiration.

  • Sonic Suit - DIY Wearable sound controller workshop

    Are you a musician, performer, designer, coder, dancer, or a curious maker who loves mixing sound, movement, and wearables? Then join us at the Sounds Like Touch Makerspace for a unique hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to build your own interactive sonic garment using sensors, sound design tools, and your body.

    At U? Festival, we presented Bromwol: an interactive performance where you can experience and play electronic textile musical instruments created by music technologist Roald van Dillewijn, body-based interaction designer Dianne Verdonk and electronic textile designer Michelle Vossen.

  • NIME Conference 2024

    Sounds Like Touch is, together with HKU Music Technology and Gaudeamus, founding partner and initiator of bringing the NIME conference to Utrecht in September 2024.

  • INTERWAVE MEETUP

    Monday 22th of Januari — 19:30 - 22:00
    Sounds Like Touch Makerspace

    Interwave  is a platform that transfers physical, tactile interaction into digital parameters to create music or other digital performative arts. 

    Over the last months, creative software designer + sound artist Roald van Dillewijn and physical interaction designer + musician Dianne Verdonk have created a  prototype box with sensors and  we are looking more than forward (sideward?) to test it with you and to hear your ideas for more interactions!

Our program is formed by and for makers. If your project idea aligns with our core values, we’re glad to hear from you and explore how we might collaborate.

This could be working together directly, hosting meetups in our makerspace, sharing your project through our newsletter and social media, or arranging expert sessions with members of our core team or wider network.
